Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 黄婧仪,柴烨,陈佳宁,黄渲文,王一楠,陈创,王宏伟李琪和母亲相依为命但关系紧绷，高考结束后，她在鱼档帮母亲照顾生意。在同学小薇的生日聚会上，李琪在对方挑衅下摔坏了小薇的手机，面对索赔危机，李琪决定独自解决。高考成绩出来了，远非母亲想象的那般理想，李琪却不愿听从安排去复读，令母女关系再度蒙上阴影……导演张旭煜的短片作品曾入围二十余个国内外电影节展，这部长片首作则是“青葱计划”五强优胜项目。导演在片中巧妙运用多种意象隐喻角色心理，成长的隐痛如鲠在喉，而资深话剧演员王一楠和新生代演员黄婧仪也以充满张力的互动精准诠释了母女之间爱恨交加的亲子关系。
