Ayşe, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble. 　　帕兹和西蒙是一对夫妇，他们与西蒙的女儿生活在一个小镇上。西蒙是一支女子足球队的教练。一个偶然的机会，西蒙的女儿在踢球时发现有人正在进行宗教仪式。她走近并拿走了一个器物，然而不久之后，女儿神秘失踪了。西蒙和帕兹非常担心女儿的安危，他们四处打听消息，而西蒙尤为焦急。为了找到女儿，帕兹一方面为她祈祷，一方面寻求灵媒的协助。通过与西蒙的接触，灵媒得以看到一些景象：一个男人被两个人杀害，小女孩藏在床底下，倒立的十字架，红色窗帘覆盖在尸体上。　　西蒙听到这些描述感到震惊和恐惧，他急不可耐地与久未联系的母亲取得联系，希望她能帮忙打听消息。帕兹的表哥在警局工作，他虽然知道FBI已经接手此案，但仍愿意协助打听消息。于是，西蒙和表哥一起前往人员繁忙的红灯区。就在他们与负责该区域的警官交谈时，一个妓女认出了西蒙，但叫他罗伯特。西蒙坚称她认错了人，妓女于是在纸巾上写下一行字，邀请他私下交谈。当晚，西蒙前往约定地点，但发现妓女已被杀。
