70岁的寡妇托娃·沙利文在索维尔湾水族馆做夜班清洁工，三十年前儿子的失踪一直是她心中的痛。她与馆里聪明的太平洋巨型章鱼马塞勒斯建立起奇妙的羁绊，马塞勒斯总能在她难过时给予无声的陪伴。与此同时，迷茫的青年卡梅隆·卡斯莫正在寻找自己的生父，他的人生也因这场寻找而逐渐清晰。两条看似无关的故事线，因马塞勒斯的意外发现慢慢交织。

　　电影一直与阳春白雪相关，似乎很少有人把它与下里巴人联系在一起。可河南某小镇某小村，却发生了一件事，让电影与下里巴人进行了一次对接。村里的电影放映员蔡有才（李易祥 饰）一直有一个梦想，那就是亲自拍一部电影。这不是闹着玩的，有才果真开始实践起了拍电影之梦。围绕着鬼子进村的主题，有才开始寻找演员，构造场景，可这些非专业出身的演员和资金的限制，让片场状况百出也笑话百出，经过各种磨难，有才还是咬牙坚持了下来。　　本片为真人真事改编，全程用河南话进行对白。真实情形为河南许昌县灵井镇兴元铺村的农民赵兰卿发动村民一起自编自导自演了一部名为《鬼子进村》的电影，开创了农民自己拍电影的先河。
