　　影片讲述了一位母亲和两个儿子在日本度假的故事。他们的小儿子差点淹死在湖里，事故发生后不久，父母意识到他们的儿子出了问题。

　　The film follows Ava, a young bank professional who is devastated when her husband Dallas abandons a marriage she is determined to fight for. But then fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have trashed their marriage, and once upon a time sabotaged Ava’s destiny to be loved by her true soulmate.

　　英国海滨小镇布赖顿，凯特斯和卡林奥里两大黑帮组织盘踞于此，互相角力，此消彼长。某夜，凯特斯被对头当街杀害，视老大如亲父的平基（Sam Riley 饰）目睹了凶案的全过程，于是想参与者之一的福瑞德（Sean Harris 饰）展开追杀。福瑞德虽死，却留下一堆的麻烦，他生前为了躲避跟踪曾某餐馆女侍应生罗丝（Andrea Riseborough 饰），并与之留下合影。为了销毁证据，平基开始接近这名单纯的女孩，而罗丝也渐渐爱上了帅气冷酷的平基。与此同时，凯特斯的死亡也让布赖顿的黑帮势力失衡，一方面卡林奥里迅速扩张，一方面本帮内部展开权力争夺，平基深陷其中无法自拔……　　本片根据Graham Greene 的小说改编。
